What We Do:
Environmental and Dynamics Testing and Evaluation
Kelly Space and Technology offers state of the art test facilities and strives to keep test and engineering programs on schedule and within budget. Whether your need is physical test, engineering or documentation services (Test plan & Test Procedures) to meet MIL-STD-810 or RTCA DO-160, ASTM, ASME, IEEE, ETS or any other test specifications, KST’s extensive engineering staff and technicians are available to economically test and or assist with any test specification tailoring process that could apply to a specific test specimen. Thus controlling the overall program test cost and schedule. The end result is speeding your product to market.
KST’s current environments testing capabilities include vibration, shock, temperature and humidity cycling, thermal shock, altitude and high pressure, explosive and rapid decompression, Burst, sand and dust, corrosives and salt fog, blowing wind and rain, hail, snow and ice, and many other testing environments.

Ballistic Testing
Kelly Space & Technology, Inc. (KST) supports unconventional ballistic testing operations with short lead times. KST is capable of bird strike testing of external equipment and structural elements. Using the custom built pneumatic “chicken” gun, KST is capable of doing bird strike tests at a wide range of velocities and gelatin simulated bird masses. Combined with KST’s extensive high speed data acquisition system and high speed video equipment, KST is able to provide extremely detailed data of the bird strike for R&D and certification testing purposes. KST is your one stop shop for all unconventional ballistic testing needs.

Jet & Rocket Engine Testing
Kelly Space & Technology's (KST) indoor rocket test facility cost-effectively supports research and development (R&D) and engine prototype testing on a commercial basis. The Jet & Rocket Engine Test Site (JRETS) West facility can test rocket engines over a thrust range of 75 - 20,000 lbF (88,964 N) thrust. The test facility can support rapid prototyping and development activities for rocket engines to enable small business as well as larger organizations to conduct cost-effective propulsion component, subsystem and system level testing for commercial and government applications.

Encapsulated Ballistic Protection
KST’s Encapsulated Ballistic Protection System (EBPS) has combined the PIM™ process with standard and new, innovative ballistic materials to produce a viable protection system against small arms fire and shrapnel. The EBPS is capable of being manufactured into very complex composite thermoplastic shapes using an open-mold technology that not only reduces capital expenditure, but provides distinct product advantages. The objective is to demonstrate the capabilities of a formable, ballistic protection material to be used in a variety of applications ranging from watercraft, vehicles and body armor to critical component replacement and even protective structures.
•Lower tooling costs
•Fewer manufacturing stages between raw materials and finished product
•Enhanced mechanical properties
•Excellent thermal and mechanical insulating properties
•Lower product costs
•Rot and degradation resistance
•Predictable polymer performance in extreme climates
•All materials are fully recyclable
Medical and Burn Debridement Laser
The Portable Burn Debridement Laser (PBDL) treatment procedure developed to address this need reduces blood and body fluid loss by up to a factor of ten while speeding up each surgical procedure and reducing the total number of required procedures. This is less traumatic to the patient and significantly lowers the chances of complications, resulting in faster recovery at substantially lower cost. The laser treatment may also increase the probability of successful grafts while reducing the risk of infection.
